Some finishes and a cruddy weekend

Greetings all! I'm afraid you find me this morning with a case of the crudds. You guessed it... I have come down with something too! My guys are feeling a lot better though and for that I am very thankful! We almost lost my husband a couple of years ago with a very bad respiratory infection so anytime he gets something related to that we get scared. Guess what I drank all weekend? This nasty stuff below. Dosen't it look yummy? NOT!
I was hoping it would make me feel better but it didn't really. As a last resort before going to the doctor, (which I after my toe incident you know I avoid if at all possible) I tried an onion pultis that my mother told my hubby to make me try. I think this must be one of my grandmother's Cherokee Indian remedies.Anyway I tried it and it helped to get my lungs to open up. Yesterday it felt like something was squeezing the air out of them. I was wheezing pretty bad and my inhalor just wasn't working. If I hadn't tried the onions I probably would have went to the ER. My mother's surgery went really well. She has one of the best plastic surgeons in town. She was up walking around later that day and had went home. She even went on a 6 hour round trip with my dad to pick up my sister. I thought she was pushing it with that one .She knew we'd all think so so she didn't tell us about it until after she came home. It's not that I don't want her helping my sister out, she couldn't be stranded. I just think mom should have taken it more easy is all.I know Doc Hawes would have had a fit. What do ya do?

Well here is No Bees all finished except for the framing. I like the way it turned out.I'm hoping to get a frame ordered from Hobby Lobby soon. They used to have thier frames 50% off every other week, but when I was in there the other day I seen this huge sign that said 'this week only'.I'm wondering if they are going to discontinue the every other week thing or if it was a ploy to get people to buy that week. Wouldn't surprise me if they discontinue it, they seemed to have a lot of other things I used to use. I really sound like a grump today don't I? I must find me something to put me in a better mood lickety split! Hot cocoa and stitching will do the trick!

LHN's Home of a Needleworker (too!) is completed! I will finish it into a pillow in the style of Pine Mountain's Tie One On series.

Watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat! Well... how about a quilt from a WIP stack! LOL! I started this quilt last winter for my son and I really need to get it done so he can use it this winter. It is a pattern called "Winter at the Lodge" using fabrics of the same name from Holly Taylor for Moda. I have thrown in a few other fabrics as well. I am handquilting it . I'm doing in the ditch quilting on the straight edges, stippling in the big blocks, and outlining the moose appliques. I can't machine applique worth a hoot so I hand appliqued them so that they would look like they were done on the machine. Took me hours to do that and I won't do that again. I must get better at machine applique so I don't run into that problem again! The fabric is flannel so Bear (Alex's nickname ) should be warm and cozy this winter.

It looks like it's sewn a little crooked but it's not. It's just the way that it's laying on the floor. It's been put away for awhile so it's a little wrinkled. Okay a lot wrinked! I'll fluff it in the dryer when I'm done and it will be fine.

Thanks everybody for all of your wonderful and sweet comments. If you haven't put your name in the hat for the giveaway yet there is still time. The post to do that on is dated Oct. 2nd.
'Til next time,
Happy Stitching,
Sharlotte

  3. Hope you kick whatever seems to have gotten you down quick. All your stitching looks wonderful. On the frames.....I don't do my own but the man that frames them sells us the frames for 50% off all the time maybe he would sell them to you that way too even if all he is doing is selling the frame. Might be worth a check see. Now that No Bees is finished what are you working on?

  6. Wow you finished No bees no honey so quickly. It's funny how sometimes the home-made cures work the best, my mom always had me drink peppermint tea whenever I was sick (so much that now I won't drink it unless I am really really sick!)

Love your BOAF finish!! Beautiful beehive, even Pooh bear would agree!! Sorry to hear you are not feelin well, I hate being sick! But on the other hand you received good news about your Mom, glad to hear she is doing well.
Don't you just love homemade remedies...I remember when I was little, my Mom used to take mentholatum (Spelling???) and roll it in sugar and make me swallow it!!! Yuck, it even says on the bottle not to do that, but I'm still alive and kickin! LOL Hope you get back in the swing of things real soon, take care.
