Not much to report

Greetings all! Not a whole lot to report today. I spend most of my time running errands and doing housework yesterday.One of the things I did was go to the post office only to discover that it was closed! Of course it would be , duh! You would think I would have realized that! *blushing* . We watched the season premere of Little People, Big World and then Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. Hubby and I stitched on our pieces while watching it. I stitched on an exchange piece so no pic of that but here is his progress on Salem Inn.

I forgot to mention that Sunday night I watched An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. I love that movie and haven't seen it in quite a while.

Peg and Kellie - I talked to my sister last night and she said that chart she got was indeed by JBW designs.You girls know your charts!

Today I plan on working on an exchange piece and some on Berry Time. If I have much time that is. It is a school day and is our day to work heavy on math. Still trying to get caught up on things from while we were sick.It's amazing how fast things can fall apart when you're sich isn't it?

A new start

Greetings all! I am pooped! I have had a very busy whirlwind of a weekend, how about you? I made sure I found plenty of time for stitching though. I found out that I am the surprise winner of the drawing that Jolene from Dip Diddly Designs had on Friday. I can't wait to get my winnings in the mail! Friday my sister and myself , along with my son and her granddaughther ( my great niece) took a trip to Branson to Cecilia's Samplers. I had a couple of a patterns in mind that I wanted to buy. One being BBD's Midnight Watch ( btw... congratulations Jan ,on your win of this from Jolene!) and the another of their's ,It's Berry Time. I had been wanting Berry Time ever since it came out. I have really been itching to do some kind of a red and white design so It's Berry Time won out. We had tons of fun shopping but little 4 year old Zoe was getting quite busy in the shop so my son and I took her outside to run off some energy while her GG ( as she calls my sister) shopped. My sister walked out with a pattern for a Christmas tree ornament in the shape of, what else, a Christmas tree. It came with the brass embellishments. I can't remember the designer. I was going to take my camera with me ,but I forgot it. :( I wish I had remembered.We have gotten so much rain here and it's flooded in a lot of places.I wanted to get pictures of that. Also the trees are really starting to get some beautiful fall foliage right now.Branson is a very hilly town ( as is most of the Ozarks) and it was very pretty seeing all the beautiful trees hill after hill.

This is what I got accomplished this weekend on It's Berry Time. The pattern called for 30 ct Iced Cappucino from R&R Reproductions, but the shop's dye lot of this was a lot darker than that of the model on the pattern. I opted for 30 ct alabaster from R&R and I think I will be happier with it. The pattern also called for 4 skeins of Crescent Colours Wild Berries .The pattern says that it's enough floss to do both the main design and the strawberry emery ,but I'm a good way in to my second skein so I'm thinking that it will be cutting it awfully close .

Only 'Til Midnight

Greetings all! Hope everyone is doing well today. Can you believe a week in October is gone already? It's almost time to get ready for the holidays. Well , in all honesty I've already been lurking at the new decorations.Psst...don't tell hubby ,he'd flip! Just a reminder that you have only until midnight tonight to sign up for the drawing for the Blackbird Designs needlebook.If you haven't already done so ,the instructions are on the post of Oct. 2nd. The pattern that inspired the needlebook is of course the Blackbird Designs' 'Be Kind and True'.This piece reminds me so much of my grandmother .I remember going to her house as a child.You could smell her lilacs ,irises, and roses while walking up the lane before you could even spot her house. Inside there would be milk glass, hobnail (sp?) and depression glass collections all around.There would be quilts that either she and my grandfather had made or ones that had been her mother's . She had a wonderful Rose of Sharon quilt that I'll never forget. I miss them both so much . Anyway , here is my version of the BBD pattern.It takes up residence in our family/game room.

Here is another past project.It is 'Round Robin' from The Trilogy and I finished it into a shaker box.

I keep my antique threads from American Star Company inside. Another find of dear old dad's.
The other day he gave me a couple of snowman tins. I love snowmen. I can hardly wait to see what he finds for me next.

On the mend!!

Greetings everybody! I am happy to report that we all seem to be on the mend! It's about time too! It will dip down into the 30's this weekend and it sure would be nice to be over this respiratory junk before it dips down that cold. That's the predicted tempts for the nights though. I was able to finish my exchange pieces and will get them mailed off in a day or two.I'll post pics of those once I hear from the recipients that they arrived safe and sound. I also worked a little on the handquilting for my son's quilt. Hopefully it can take up residence on his bed soon. I thought I would share a basket that I did a little while back.It is a pattern from Pine Mountain. I finished it into a basket that sits in the kitchen that holds my cd's . That's usually where I listen to my music as I spend a good portion of the day in there .
