Thanks!

Past and Present Stitching and Quilting ...Lots of Pics

Welcome all! Thanks for stopping by today ! Since I haven't been blogging long ,I realize that I have a lot around my house that you all haven't seen yet .I decided to post a few stitched pieces, ones I have had stitched for a while and one I have done recently. Also I wanted to post about a quilt that I am working on as well. It is called Pinon Pines and designed by Robert Callaham. He's one of my favorite designers and he is well known for his applique work.Since my applique skills have a lot to be desired I was glad when I found a pattern of his that didn't have any applique. Here it is layed out on my husband's king sized recliner.Have you ever seen one of these things? They're huge! I'm 5'1" and when I sit in it it makes me feel like Lily Tomlin's character when she would do that skit on SNL .You know when she sat in that big chair and would say" and that's the truth"? It's a real comfy chair though. The next pic is a close up of one of the pine blocks.

Next is a piece from LHN titled "Little House Neighborhood".This was a large design to stitch but I knew I had to the moment I seen it.I stitched it on 32 count mushroom luguna and I framed it myself.I stitched this toward the end of last year.Sorry it's not a close up.The camera hasn't been behaving lately and the pics as of late have not been that great.

Here is another LHN piece I stitched in 2006.I stitched it on 28 count oatmeal evenweave. I had a lot of that at one time ,so I used it for awhile on a lot of things.Another stitcher came up with the idea of changing the alphabet portion to read " welcome to our neck of the woods".I liked that so much that I decided to do that as well.It hangs in our living room by the front door.

I can't remember the pattern name of this piece ,but I do remember that it was a Hillside Samplings design. It was stitched again on the oatmeal evenweave using Needle Necessities (now Threadworx) overdyed floss and used a variety of specialty stitches. The next pic is the best I could do for a close up to show a little more detail.Instead of using the porcelain button that the pattern called for ,I used an actual pinecone.I thought it would give it more interest.

This next one is the last one I promise! It is Marjolein Bastin's "America's Feathered Friends" and is a fairly new finish. I found a wonderful barnwood frame at Hobby Lobby that I think will be perfect for it.I'm just waiting for it to go on sale.

Well thank you all so much for taking the time to read through this long post.I do so appreciate it.Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
"til next time,
Sharlotte

Just the pooches...no stitching :(

Just posting about the pooches today.I tried taking a few pictures yesterday of the dogs .Our new dog Daisy is so jealous of our other dog Brittney ,that it was really hard to get some good ones.Daisy is only 6 months old and already a handful. As I've mentioned before ,she is a Great Dane/Boxer mix according to the vet.The lady she came from says Shepherd, but I don't think so.Brittney is a Black Lab/Great Pyranese mix.She doesn't quite know what to think about having a new dog around but she is starting to warm up to Daisy.

Well that's it for today folks!

My stab at punch needle (pun intended !)

Happy September Everybody!

Can you believe it is September already? I couldn't believe it yesterday when I got up.The house was chilly and Weather Bug said it was 49 degrees!

I thought I would show you all a quick peek at my recent attempt at punch needle. It was ok I guess by not nearly as satisfying as cross stitch.I may try it again someday ,but for now I have put it aside. The first one is of a pattern called "Flowers and Ewe" by Stone and Thread and the other is called "Country Layers " by The Thread That Binds. The first one is a box of course that I layed on it's front so you would be able to see it well.I know that the picture isn't very clear. Our camera takes good pictures, just doesn't transfer to the blog very well.Does great on another site we have...hmm...Keeping it short today!

Hugs and stitches,
Sharlotte

SNAFU!

Hello all!
Well the weekend didn't go quite as planned. My son did go to my brother's for the weekend. My husband Jack didn't go fishing.Instead he spent the weekend unexpectedly on our leaking toilet. It was quite a headache for him ,but he was able to fix it as he always seems to be able to fix just about anything. All I can say about the toilet is thank God for second bathrooms! Dinner was a sinch and mostly I didn't have to mess with it.It was Vonna's E-Z chicken and dumplings in the crock pot.It was very easy and oh so very good. Thanks Vonna for posting the recipe!

We've had our dog Brittney for about 11 years now.We got her as a pup.Lately she has seemed to be very very lonely. All of a sudden, Jack decided to go look at dogs while taking a break from his manly duties as Mr. Toolman. So we checked the local Humane Society and seen lots of beautiful dogs but none we seemed to warm up to or thought would be good for Brittney. Then we ran across one that was on Craig's List and drove about 30 miles round trip to go see her. Oh we fell in love with her instantly and she with us,so... Daisy came home with us.She's a big girl. She's a 6 month old pup ,but very big for her age and VERY,VERY strong. She kept trying to climb in the front seat with us while driving down the interstate. Finally,we had to pull over so we wouldn't wreck the car.I-44 is not a place you want to pull over on ,but what's a body to do? I think she and Brittney will be best buds soon. They still have to get used to each other ,but I think it is happening pretty quickly. Brittney is a black lab/great pyranese (sp?) mix and Daisy is a great dane/ boxer mix.The lady we got Daisy from said that she is great dane and shepherd ,but the vet says she is great dane and boxer. We'll go with the vet as she doesn't resemble a shepherd other than a black muzzle.I'll get pictures up of the girls soon.

I did manage to get some stitching done with all the chaos. Not as much as I would have liked, but as you know my plans changed from what they were on Friday. All in all I think I did pretty well.I got some stitching done on an Exchange piece so I won't show progress on that.I did get some more stitching done on some WIP's and couldn't resist starting on yet another fall piece. Will I ever get them all done? I know I will the exchange piece because I made a commitment and I intend to stick to it.The others I'm not sure when they will be done.Oh well! The first one is of progress on Marjolein Bastin's "The Pecking Order".Next is "Sleep Hallow " from The Cross-Eyed Cricket.Last ,but not least is "Pumpkin Harvest" from The Trilogy which I changed the floss colors to ones I had on hand.I am stitching it on an oatmeal evenweave that I bought quite some time ago at Hobby Lobby.Like most everything else I liked there, they don't sell it anymore.Wish I had some more .Here they are in all there glory!

Hope you all have a great week!Happy Stitching!
