Have you seen it?

Greetings all! I've been blogging for one month today ! Yeah!!! Well this morning is starting off different than yesterday. Yesterday morning while I was trying to post the internet went wonky.Once we discovered that the problem was not here at home we called our internet provider, which is supplied by a cable company. It was down all over town and not back up and running until late in the afternoon. I also got news from my eye doctor that my pupils are starting to work again. It's just small movement ,but at least it's movement! I have been fighting a battle with iritis for quite some time now.Off and on for 12 years. Because of all the inflamation I have had in my eyes from this .the last time doc dialated my eyes to look in the back for scarring, my pupils just stuck, they stayed open. The inflamation wouldn't allow them to go back to normal.Trying to see to read or even stitch has been a real challenge. He also told me that I didn't have any inflamtion in either one of my eyes yesterday .I haven't had that news in over a year! As you can probably guess, I am in really good spirits in that regard. I was saddened by the news last evening of the passing of Patrick Swayze. One of my very favorite things that he was in is the North and South series. I love movies of that period like The Blue and the Grey ( he wasn't in it) A lot of it was filmed right here in Greene county at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield. More of my favorites with him are Dirty Dancing, Ghost, and To Wong Foo. He was a talent that will be missed by many. Ok, have you seen it?? LHN now has a picture of The Library up on their site, http://littlehouseneedleworks.com/. Go take a peek. I did a little test dying yesterday. Not real big pieces. Just something to get a feel for a it. I used purple ,turquoise, and blue. For one test I used turquoise and blue. I will need to play with the dye a little more to get the hang of it but here is my attempts.

Thank you friends for visiting.

'Til next time,

Happy stitching,

Time Flies !!

You know that old saying time flies when you're having fun? Well I've been having a lot of fun since I started blogging and I realized that tomorrow will mark one month since I started this blog! Times goes in a hurry. Well, the guys went fishing overnight so I got a lot of stitching done.I stayed up until almost 3:00 the next morning.I haven't done that in a long time! I watched The Lake House , Must Love Dogs, and Corrina,Corrina. I just love those movies. The guys didn't catch a whole lot of fish, they caught four altogether. I forget to take a picture of the other fish before Jack cleaned them.Glad he saved the biggest for the last .Here it is.

I knitted these socks using Opal sock yarn in their Harry Potter line. The color I chose is "Ron". I think it's a nice fall color. One thing I don't like about knitting striped socks is a lot of times the stripes don't come out the same. If you try to find the same part of the pattern in the yarn to start the second sock to start off with , you may not have enough yarn to knit the other sock.I really like Opal yarn though. It makes nice socks. These socks have wrinkles in them from sitting in the dryer too long. They look like they are different sizes but they aren't.I think it's the wrinkles that make them look that way.

Here is my progress on LHN Home of a Needleworker (Too) . I'm pretty much on the home stretch.Just have to finish the top and bottom borders and there is also a row of what is supposed to be swirled floss?

I am trying to chose my next project.I have been thinking for sometime about doing a piece for my laundry room. It's a toss between NoBees ,No Honey from Birds of a Feather or Ida Mae Crow from The Goode Huswife. The laundry room is across from the Marjolein Bastin bathroom so the Bees piece would go with that and the laundry room is at the end of the kitchen ,which is sort of Shaker style and I think Ida Mae would go ok with that but not so much with the Marjolein stuff. The curtain in the laundry room is sort of a sage green checked fabric so either would match that.Still it's a toss up.Decisions, decisions!

Thank you friends so much for stopping by and for your comments! I appreciate them!

'Til next time,

Happy Stitching!

Yeah it's Friday!!!

Greeings all ! I wanted to thank you all for the wonderful comments! I appreicate them very much! My only regret about them is that I can't read the one from Miriam.Wish I knew how to use the translater! Any ideas? I wanted to mention that my son's bowling score on Wednesay was 147! So far his highest score had been 128.he was very excited and his hopes of getting a trophy this season is a little higher.Well here we are up on the weekend again.I don't know about you but the week went by really fast for me.I don't have anything planned other than stitching until Monday when I go to the eye doctor.I hope I get good news this time. I have had a condition called iritis (infamation of the iris) for several years now. With this bout it is in both eyes. It's a serious condition as it can cause blindness. It's mega depressing at times.Anyway...on to the pictures. I thought this first one was appropriate for the day that it is.I actually stitched it last year . I had stitched so many of the same design for other people and used the current year. When I stitched it for myself, I decided to go with the year that was stitched on the model. It is by Bent Creek and titled Flag 1998.

Here is my husband's start on Moonlit Cabin. He has worked on it some ,but the count is so small that it is taking him awhile.Plus he's just learning so he doesn't have a lot of speed yet.His embroidery scissors arrived in the mail on Wednesday, yeah!He had spotted them when we went to the shop in Branson on Saturday that I told you about. He debated back and forth about getting them then left them behind.I knew he really wanted them so on Monday I ordered them for him. We also went to the local quilt store yesterday. They have punch needle patterns there so they carry WDW and we bought some.Jack is starting to get a little fiber stash of his own going. It's so fun to see how fun he think this is now that he picked something to stitch himself.I'm surprised he has even tried it and he said that he was too.Now he's planning his next two projects and has even got bold enough to buy dye to dye the fabric for those.I've been stitching for 20+ years and just recently dyed my first fabric.

.

A little more of a closeup.

This last one is a better shot of the PS piece I took the other day.I was able to turn the picture and get a better shot this time.Plus as you can see I was able to get a little more done on it.Last night I also worked on an exchange piece so no pictures of that.I can hardly wait 'til I can show it though.

Well ,that's it for today.Hope you all have a wonderful and safe weekend!

'Til next time, happy stitching!

Moning Coffee

Greetings all! I just love the quiet of the morning when everyone else is still sleeping and I get a chance to do some stitching and have some time to myself.I like have a cup of cappucino or coffee, well OK , a few cups, while having this alone and stitching time. I finally finished up this 'Friends and Coffee' piece from a Stoney Creek magazine. It didn't take me long at all to loose the magazine, so I'm sorry that I can't tell you which issue just now. I changed the friend part to read family because I figured the other would be more appropriate if a friend gave it to you. I made the heart button myself. I like making buttons and have ventured into making different types instead of just plain round ones. I stitched it on 32 ct. lambswool linen using DMC. Here's a peek at the finished product. Now just to find a frame to put it in.

'til next time,
happy stitching!

A little more past and present

Greetings all! I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! I thought I would post a few more pics of things that I had done.I have not be able to figure out how to do an album so this is the best I can do for now. This first picture is a painting that my MIL did in 1977.She titled it "Autumn at the Mill". My FIL made the frame from wood that was taken from a cabin that my MIL was born. They were clearing land for 'improvements' and the cabin got the axe. My husband really treasures this painting so it hangs in our house year 'round.

I tried to get rid of this pic so I could turn it. I couldn't ,so here it is.It's something I started on Thursday from PS " A Prairie Year".I will finish it into a pyn keepe I think.

I stitched this from BBD "Be Kind and True".It's the top portion of the pattern.I finished it into a trinket box for my MIL.The next picture is of the inside. It was a Moda fabric but I can't remember who the designer was.

Next is LHN's Traveling Stitcher that I made into the suggested project keeper. It was stitched for someone else.I should make me one! The next pic is from the inside.I used the flosses from Crescent Colours that was in the pattern pack. The DMC is just for show. The fabric was again a Moda print by 3 Sisters.

Here is LHN's Wool Needlebook pattern.I made it into a needlework set.

I love gameboards and of course LHN patterns. Here are two gameboards from her Garden and Hometown patterns.I made the checkers myself.I just love making those little things.

That's all today! Thanks for stoping by. Hope you can visit again soon!
Take care,
Sharlotte

A little this...a little that.... (picture heavy and a little long)

Greetings everybody! ....Welcome back to my humble little blog! This weekend was a somewhat busy one, yet somehow it seemed so calm.We had planned on Friday to go to what I thought was a needlework shop .It's about an 45min-an hour drive. We no longer have a needlework shop in town so I have no choice but to drive elsewhere. When I called the shop to find out their exact location, I discovered that they have all the cross stitch fabric ,most of the fibers, but very few charts. The lady on the phone told me that there isn't much of a demand for them.I think NOT! She told me that the store was mostly catered to knitting.Good thing I didn't tell her that I knitted or she probably wouldn't have mentioned that they didn't have much in the way of cross stitch.Anyway...we considered the busy traffic there would be in Branson ,especially Labor Day weekend, but thought ,what the heck, let's go! So very glad we did! We popped in to this great little needlework shop, Cecilia's Samplers, (http://ceciliassamplers.com/ ) where I had never been.It was a great little shop and the lady was oh so helpful. We stayed and stayed and stayed! We learned that the shop was recently vandelized.Someone hacked a chunk out of a model they had in their store! Can you imagine someone doing such a thing?! The dirty birds! Anyway ...we came back with a small stash ,and when I looked in the bag in the car on the way to Bob Evans for dinner,I found a thread sorter, a magnetic calendar for the fridge and a really cute Halloween pattern from Just Another Button Company. There was a little note that said a gift for you! Such a nice place and absolutely no pressure to buy.If you ever need something from the net, check them out! By the way, the LHN Home of a Needleworker (too)! is mine, the Plum Pudding pattern and WDW is my husband's! Now he knows you can't go into a shop and come out empty handed!

As you can see,I had to get started on the LHN pattern.I stitced while watching The Sound of Music. I , of course didn't stitch all of this during that time.I'm not that fast! I was disappointed to find out that Christopher Plummer had said that of all the roles he's played,he detested that one the most.I just love that movie and it wouldn't be the same without him.I am going to make Needleworker into a pillow, which is why I didn't need as much extra fabric around the edges.Besides, it leaves more fabric for the next project, right?

Just a couple of little stitches I did for an ongoing Autumn/Halloween SAL. They have a number of little uses.

Just a quick look at what I will have on my feet this fall/winter season.Just finished them up recently.

Here's a pic of the girls at play.I know they look like they were fighting, but they weren't. This weekend had some sadness as well.My dad's dog Brutis of 15 years died. Now my dad typically is not a crier, but his dogs ( he has another named Mickey) are a big part of his life.My mom told me that he cried for a long time.I felt just terrible for him! We will all miss Brutis.

I couldn't resist this next one. Kinda hard to tell if Daisy was being bashful or mischievous.

Some time or another this weekend ,someone brought in a hitchhiker.Probably DS as he was outside in the backyard a lot .

We ended last evening with a bonfire. I love that it's beginning to be Fall. It's my favorite time of the year!

Thanks eveybody for all of your nice comments. They're appreciated! Hope you all have a wonderful day!
'til next time, happy stitching!
